Mental Health First Aid Strategies How to help someone going through a mental health crisis The Action Plan Mental Health First Aid teaches a five-step action plan, ALGEE, for individuals to provide help to someone who may be in crisis. · Assess for risk of suicide or harm · Listen nonjudgmentally  · Give reassurance and information · Encourage appropriate professional help · Encourage self-help and other support strategies **Always seek emergency medical help if the person’s life is in immediate danger.
